Something something Kansas is flat and ugly.

I've been looking at satellite images of Kansas (seriously bored at work yo) and it looks exactly like a bunch of squares and straight roads. Where does one drive??
![]() 06/18/2014 at 21:48 |

In straight lines in central Kansas unfortunately. East Kansas is hilly, but it's the rolling hill variety which while pretty isn't exciting.
I drive at autocross...

Well at least there's that. I'd go insane out there.

Why do you think I want a corvette?
I like it here, but I wish I had some fun roads

Time to look for jobs in CA, NY/NJ/CT, or NC for the sake of cars!

thanks. This was a really awesome spot. I'll have to go back with an actual camera sometime

I tried. I'll go back with a real camera someday
![]() 06/18/2014 at 22:26 |

Do you have any mountain roads? I'll trade you
![]() 06/18/2014 at 22:27 |

CA is too expensive, NY/NJ/CT is too cold, and I don't know of any good aerospace jobs in NC.

Well it seems like you're down to just Texas. I'd personally never set foot in Florida.

haha fuck that, I'm not going back to texas

Eastern Kansas is beautiful in my opinion. I've made the drive from St Louis to Colorado a bunch of times. Not to get all 'sappy and patriotic about it, those green rolling hills, the little creeks, the chalk ledges poking through the grass feels incredibly American. Too many Westerns as a kid? Dunno, but I admire it every time.
Western Kansas on the other hand... or worse Eastern Colorado! Oh gawd. I'd rather go to the dentist.

Look for the old Cold War missile bunkers. That's awesome bored at work, look busy on Google Earth activity... They are ALL OVER Kansas.

It's not as flat as Florida. It is appropriate that the first major NASCAR race was done here, there aren't many curves.

Alabama, seriously. There are mountains/big hills from Birmingham and up. There are beaches in the south end. There are some plains in southeastern Alabama in case you miss Kansas. Huntsville has Boeing, Lockheed, and of course the Arsenal. AND do I miss those backroads.

I live in Florida. I have escaped it once and got drug back into it. I hate it. There are no good backroads or in my case, good places to go off of the road.

Then you're stuck forever!

UH OH THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME

*shudders*
I'm going to try and never leave the NY/NJ/CT area unless it's for California.

Can I paste this? Atlas Missile site, know as 'Ted's tractor shed these days...'

I've lived in Pennsylvania(that was my escape), and my lungs didn't take well with the winter(wheezy asthmatic). So I am back in Florida trying to find a job, so I can afford to escape back to Alabama.

Let's try again....
There ya go. Kind of an delta-wing airplane shape, always pointed to the NNE. Probably 25 of them around Manhattan Kansas. Also active silos in the Dakotas that on the Google Maps are mysteriously blurry and just kind of brown dirt color. Funny how that works.

I really like the first one
![]() 06/19/2014 at 06:59 |

Yeah, "mysteriously blurry" hehe. I can't wait to waste time at work today.

Hopefully Alabama's backroads aren't stereotypically full with people who lived secluded in the deep south.

If you mean live in the middle of nowhere inbreds, that's Tennessee. If you mean live in the middle of nowhere because it's peaceful as fuck, then yes. Contrary to popular belief, inbreeding is not popular and accepted in the southeast. There are 2 states in which it IS legal, though: Oklahoma and CALIFORNIA.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 11:43 |

I didn't realize it was legal anywhere. Dear god.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 11:54 |

Well, California is all about tolerance.

This is true...
